Flex duct Incorrect and Correct installations
The duct system shown here is detriorating and loosing conditioned air into the attic. The return ducts are sucking in hot attic air, dust and debris which aid in clogging the evaporator coil and will then be distributed throughout the home. |

Notice the large bends, curves and the kinked ducts. This type installation adds static pressure and reduces the amount of air flow to the home, forcing the system to work harder to try to cool. It also adds unwanted static pressure (resistance) to the blower, reducing it's efficiency and life. The introduction of Variable Speed Blowere has brought this problem to the fore-front of Home Comfort System installations. With the efficient Variable Speed Blower systems, maintaining the proper static pressure is critical for proper operation and longevity.

Some ducts here are correctly installed and some
could use improvement.

Ideal installation procedure, whenever possible, ducts should have less than 1" sag.
